In Memory Of Buddy

Beyond our skies, another realm
With angel wings he flies.
His spirit soars to rise above
The boundaries of his earthly ties.

An endless world of freedom
Exalted in this glory found
Yet still is captured in our hearts
And by this love forever bound.

Buddy was brought to us in May of 1991. His little legs were twisted and bent; crippled by metabolic bone disease. His left eye socket was completely empty. Quite a pitiful sight for a young juvenile blue jay. Had I been a kinder, wiser person back then, I may have given Buddy the freedom from this cruel hand he had been dealt, but being who I was, I had to save the life at all cost! Little did I realize that it was Buddy who would pay the price. And so he did for eight years. He managed quite well in the twenty-four foot span of his tiny world. But Buddy never knew THE WIND BENEATH HIS WINGS.

What Buddy lacked in appearance, he made up for in heart! He was the most compassionate of all birds I've grown to know. Shortly after receiving Buddy, BooBoo came to live with us, and quickly became Buddy's constant companion. BooBoo lived only two months after Buddy died. I will always believe that she died of a broken heart.

To Buddy and BooBoo, I will always remember!  To God, my thanks for letting me share their lives.
